Antique Petite Sewing Chair with Mortise and Tenon Joint Craftmanship. This wonderful primitive rocking chair is Hand Hewn and uses the one of the most reliable and sturdy wood joints called a Mortise and Tenon joint. This type of joinery doesn’t use nails, it fits together with one piece of wood that has a protrusion which fits into a carved hole called a “mortise” on another piece of wood, securing them together without the need for nails or screws, this is a classic woodworking technique used in furniture making. This piece of primitive furniture has withstood the test of time, a sturdy accent chair for display. It’s petite size 31″ H x 15″ W with a low seat at 15 1/2″ would make a darling children rocker.
