Description

1940s Universal Cambridge Emperess Ivory Blue Transferware Dishes. This is a set of 4 Divided Grill Plates that have 3 separate areas that feature Asian buildings,bridges and mountain scenery. The outside edge has a floral pattern. The back is stamped.
In excellent condition with no chips, cracks ir repairs, There is some crazing. Measures 10″ Dia.
FYI-History of the Grill Plate
During the 1920s and through the Great Depression, Blue Willow china experienced a surge in popularity and became a common sight in many American food establishments. Restaurants and diners that advertised a “Blue Plate Special,” serving hearty and affordable meals usually the plates they were served on were Blue  Willow “grill plates,” which had separate areas on the plate for entrees and sides.
