Antique hard to find first edition of “Hecla Sandwith” by Edward Uffington Valentine. Published in 1905 March by Bobbs-Merrill Company. This volume is near fine with the original jacket good condition. Book cover with bright colors and gilding on the front board, a strong, square text block with solid hinges and the interior is clean and bright. No marks or tears. The design of the book’s cover was created by Margaret Armstrong (1867-1944). Armstrong utilized the Art Nouveau style and floral patterns, that were a sensation in the publishing business. Armstrong created over 270 book designs, often for the works of well-known authors such as Charles Dickens, Robert Louis Stevenson, and George Washington Cable.
