Vintage West African Hausa Basket created in the distinctly coil weaving technique and geometric pattern. This traditional Northern Nigerian basket measures 8 1/2″ W x 6″ D and is made from woven grass and natural dyes. The Hausa patterns are often symbolic, the triangle patterns throughout hold cultural significance representing female fertility and also wards off evil. This basket bowl has a wonderful earth-toned faded color combination and design. This basket is not only beautiful but useful as well. In good vintage condition.
