1950s Heavy Cardboard Fire Extinguisher Tube with interesting manufactures instruction. Manufactured and guaranteed by The Fire-ex Chemical Co. of Freeport, Illinois. There is a screw on metal cap, and the bottom is metal as well. The extinguisher has a very nice paper label with instructions and uses of this unique extinguisher. These dry powder type extinguisher were being introduced in the 1950’s to try and eliminate the glass fire grenade extinguishers that contained hazardous substances. The label clearly points out that it is absolutely harmless….a selling point to get them into homes. It measures 8″ H x 3″ W.
Good clear graphics, metal cap and bottom have rust. In good vintage condition-container is empty. A nice addition to a Fireman’s collection or an advertising collection.
