This wonderful primitive rocking chair is Hand Hewn and uses the one of the most reliable and sturdy wood joints called a Mortise and Tenon joint. This type of joinery doesn’t use nails, it fits together with one piece of wood that has a protrusion which fits into a carved hole called a “mortise” on another piece of wood, securing them together without the need for nails or screws, this is a classic woodworking technique used in furniture making. This piece of primitive furniture has withstood the test of time, a sturdy accent chair for display. It’s petite size 31″ H x 15″ W with a low seat at 15 1/2″ would make a darling children rocker.
